CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Have research, field experience, technology, or lessons learned to share with the clean cooking community? We want to hear from you.

ETHOS invites researchers, practitioners, students, entrepreneurs, and others working across the clean cooking sector to submit proposals for the 2027 ETHOS Conference. We welcome submissions that advance understanding, spark thoughtful discussion, share practical learning, and push the sector forward.

Whether you’re presenting new research, sharing what worked (or what didn’t), or bringing a fresh perspective to a persistent challenge, we encourage you to submit.

ETHOS features two types of presentations: plenary presentations and breakout presentations.

Plenary Presentations

Plenary presentations are by invitation only and are scheduled throughout the conference for all in-person and virtual attendees. If you are invited to give a plenary presentation, a member of the ETHOS Board will contact you directly to coordinate your talk.

Breakout Presentations

Breakout presentations are open to anyone working on topics related to clean cooking and household energy. To be considered, simply submit an abstract through our Call for Submissions.

Breakouts are organized by theme and take place in three parallel sessions throughout the conference. Attendees choose which sessions to attend and are welcome to move between rooms.

Most breakout sessions include four presenters per hour, with approximately 15 minutes allotted to each speaker. Please plan for a 10–12 minute presentation, leaving 2–5 minutes for questions and transition between speakers. Some sessions may include three presenters, allowing a little more time for each talk.

Breakout Presentation Process

Submit an abstract. Complete the abstract submission form to apply for a breakout presentation. We welcome research, field experience, new technologies, lessons learned, and other contributions that can deepen understanding and advance the clean cooking and household energy sector.
Register for the conference. Submitting an abstract does not register you for ETHOS. All presenters must also register for the conference.
Abstract review and confirmation. After the submission deadline, the ETHOS Board will review abstracts to confirm that each topic is a good fit for the conference. This is not an editorial or peer-review process. We aim to accommodate speakers who have a relevant contribution to share about clean cooking or household energy. Presenters will receive an email confirming whether their abstract has been accepted.
Session scheduling. The ETHOS Board will organize accepted presentations into themed breakout sessions and publish the detailed agenda in January 2027. Accepted abstracts will also be posted so attendees can explore the topics and choose which breakout sessions to attend.
Submit your slides or presentation videos. Presenters will receive instructions for submitting slides and prerecorded presentations in January. In-person presenters will give their talks live using their submitted slides. Virtual presenters may present live or submit a prerecorded video. We recommend prerecorded presentations for speakers who may have an unreliable internet connection.
Join your session. Whether you are presenting in person, live online, or by prerecorded video, please attend your scheduled session. Presenters who submit a prerecorded talk should still join live to answer questions and participate in the discussion.
